Dharamsala, 26 giugno 2012. Tra imponenti misure di sicurezza è stata celebrata, a Zatoe, la cerimonia di cremazione di Tenzin Khedup, il giovane tibetano immolatosi assieme a Ngawang Norphel lo scorso 20 giugno. Per evitare la presenza dei tibetani, le autorità locali hanno ordinato ai monaci del locale monastero di anticipare alle primissime ore del giorno i riti funebri minacciando di impossessarsi del martoriato corpo del ragazzo tibetano se i loro ordini non fossero stati rispettati.
Secondo quanto riportato da fonti in esilio, almeno 800 addetti alla sicurezza sono stati schierati attorno e all’interno del monastero di Zilkar dove i monaci, incuranti del divieto, hanno officiato i riti della cremazione, acceso lampade a burro e recitato preghiere. La polizia ha impedito che la cerimonia fosse fotografata o filmata.
Le autorità cinesi hanno tratto in arresto, senza un preciso capo d’imputazione, la moglie e due famigliari di Ngawang Norphel, il ventiduenne tibetano che si è immolato con il fuoco assieme a Tenzin Khedup. Il ragazzo è ora ricoverato in gravi condizioni presso l’ospedale militare di Siling dopo aver passato alcune ore all’interno del monastero di Zilkar, curato dai monaci. Al momento dell’immolazione, entrambi reggevano la bandiera tibetana. In un breve messaggio scritto prima del loro atto estremo, i due nuovi martiri chiedono a tutti i tibetani di battersi, uniti, per la libertà del Tibet e il ritorno del Dalai Lama. “Gente come noi non può fare nulla per la salvaguardia della religione e della cultura del Tibet né può aiutare economicamente i tibetani, il nostro è solo un atto d’amore verso i nostri compatrioti e di lealtà nei confronti del Dalai Lama”. In uno scioccante filmato girato dai monaci e diffuso dall’Amministrazione Centrale Tibetana, Ngawang Norpel, il volto devastato dalle ustioni e dall’indicibile dolore, chiede disperato “Cosa è successo al nostro Paese delle Nevi”? “Se non abbiamo libertà, cultura, tradizioni e lingua, cosa ci resta”? Chiede inoltre notizie di Tenzin Khedup. I monaci, pietosamente, gli rispondono che sta bene e che è a casa. “La prossima volta non falliremo”, dice Ngawang.
